Senior Minister Harak Singh Rawat Quits Uttarakhand Government

Dehradun, December 25 (TNA) The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suffered a big setback in the hill state of Uttarakhand late on Friday when a senior cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat resigned and levelled serious allegations against the BJP government led by Pushkar Singh Dhami.

There are also unconfirmed reports that another lawmaker of the BJP - Umesh Sharma Kau has also put in his papers ahead of the crucial state assembly polls, slated for February next year. Rawat was the forest and environment minister in the government and had ditched Congress in 2012 to join arch rivals BJP.
