Congress Seeks Appointment With President Kovind To Present Detailed Facts On Lakhimpur Kheri Incident

New Delhi, Oct 10 (TNA) The indian National Congress (INC) has sought appointment with the President Ram Nath Kovind to sumbit a memorandum over what it has termed as a “broad day massacre of farmers” in Lakhimpur Kheri. In a letter written to the president, party general secretary KC Venugopal has menitoned how the incident at Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh has “shaken the conscience of the entire nation”.

Even more tragic, the letter says, were the open warnings by the union minister of state for home, Ajay Mishra Teni and consequence trampling of the farmers by a vehicle owned by the ministers family. Even after the eye witness accounts and the intervention of the Supreme Court, no action has been taken againas the minister, the letter goes on to say.

The delegation of Congress comprising of Rahul Gandhi, AK Antony, Mallikarjun Khadge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary would be apprising the president with a “detailed memorandum of facts”. The party general secretary hence seeeks an appointment on priority for this matter, Venugopal has said.
