LUCKNOW || Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday sent lakh masks to Lucknow, a party office-bearer informed. These masks, which will go a long way in helping people to combat the menace of COVID-19, will be distributed by Congress workers from Saturday onwards, media convener Lallan Kumar informed.
Vadra has been at the forefront of the fight against Coronavirus and has been from time to time guiding her party workers on how to help people in distress while also sending meaningful suggestions to the states chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
The Congress’s UP unit is already distributing medicines, ration, food in many parts of the state. Community kitchens are also being run by her party and its well-wishers, supporters and workers in 17 districts including Agra, Hapur, Fatehpur, Lakhimpur, Prayagraj, Lucknow and Ghaziabad.
So far, the party said, 47 lakh people have been provided with free ration and food. On the directives of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, workers, leaders and chief ministers of the party ruled states are already buying rail tickets for migrant labourers who are headed to their homes.
