Hitherto Preferred By Researchers In UP, China Now Is A Strict No-No

LUCKNOW || Research and development has often been a prized domain of expertise of some really bright researchers of Uttar Pradesh. A sizeable chunk of UP’s research scholars and professors have in the recent past made a beeline for China to make a career.

As the Coronavirus spreads its tentacles, all roads leading to China remain suspended for Indians who want to go there and do research studies. The dragon has always been a symbol of opportunities vis – vis research and education for Indian scholars.

With a central government advisory asking people to refrain from travelling to China, scholars have cancelled trips to China. For them even a conference is off the agenda right now.

Several teachers of various universities have been told to avoid visiting China. The administration of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has already warned the faculty against attending seminars and conferences in China. This restriction is now applicable since January 15.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure HODs increasingly are averse to any Chinese delegation visit campus. These instructions hold true for BHU, LU and Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, among others.

Academicians of all hues widely believe that in the recent past China has opened a floodgate of opportunities on the R&D front. It is also helpful in a student exchange with India, which has facilitated the movement of students there.

China has a higher preference given the fact that it has world-class infrastructure and gives a space for quality research. With the cost of living low, it has also proven cheaper than European countries.
