AGRA || A teacher working at the DC Vedik Inter College in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh committed suicide in the campus on Monday, police said. The teacher of the college in the Shahganj area taught Hindi and Sanskrit in the college for the past 30 years.
He has been identified as 53-year-old Hamveer Singh. He was native of Iglas in Aligarh and lived at a room within the college campus. His wife, son and daughter lived in Aligarh.
His body was discovered by the college peon Niranjan when he went to open the college at around 7 am.
He shot himself with a countrywide pistol on his temple. Police have since taken the body for post-mortem and the family has been informed of the tragedy. “We are trying to ascertain why did the victim take this extreme step of ending his life,” a police official told The News Agency over the phone.
