New Delhi, September 19 (TNA) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against industrialist Anil Ambani, Reliance Capital Limited and others on a complaint filed by the Life Insurance Corporation of India, alleging a wrongful loss of ₹2,684.57 crore to the insurer.
According to the complaint, LIC subscribed to five non-convertible debentures issued by Reliance Capital between 2012 and 2018, investing ₹3,900 crore in total. While the first NCD of ₹500 crore was repaid, the remaining four debentures worth ₹2,684 crore turned into non-performing assets, resulting in the alleged loss.
The FIR names Ambani, former Reliance ADA Group MD Satish Seth, unknown public servants and others, and invokes charges including cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal conspiracy, criminal misconduct, diversion of funds and falsification of accounts. It is the ninth case registered by the CBI against Anil Ambani and associated entities.
