Veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli, Aruna Irani’s husband, dies at 77 after heart attack

Mumbai, August 25 (TNA) Veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli, husband of actor Aruna Irani and best known for directing Phool Aur Kaante, has died at the age of 77 after suffering a massive heart attack in Mumbai. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after feeling unwell, but could not be revived.

According to reports, Kohli suffered a cardiac arrest on Tuesday evening, with doctors first treating him for a heart ailment earlier in the day and performing an angioplasty with a stent procedure. Despite initial improvement, his condition worsened suddenly, and he died around 5:15 pm.

Kuku Kohli, whose real name was Avtar Kohli, is widely remembered for launching Ajay Devgn’s Bollywood career with Phool Aur Kaante and for directing films such as Yeh Dillagi and Suhaag. He is survived by Aruna Irani and two daughters.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news, saying Kohli had no major illness and was fine earlier in the day before the sudden heart attack. Reports also said the funeral is scheduled to be held in Oshiwara.
