Gurugram, September 15 (TNA) Gurugram Police have arrested Kalyan Bainsla in connection with the hit-and-run case involving a woman biker on Golf Course Road. Bainsla was traced and arrested in Dausa, Rajasthan, after police teams pursued him following the incident.
The case came to light after a video of the incident circulated widely on social media. According to the police, Bainsla allegedly rammed his car into the motorcycle ridden by Shivani Chauhan, also known as Sia, on Sunday. The woman fell from the motorcycle and suffered minor injuries.
Police initially registered a case at the Sector 56 police station under provisions relating to rash driving and causing injury. After examining CCTV footage and other evidence, investigators added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to attempted murder. The provision carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
A police team travelled to Rajasthan to trace Bainsla after he allegedly left the area following the crash. He is being brought to Gurugram, where investigators are expected to question him about the circumstances of the collision and his alleged flight from the scene.
The accused’s lawyer has disputed the police’s description of the incident, saying it was a case of negligence and overspeeding rather than a deliberate act. Police said the investigation remains underway and that further action will follow the evidence collected.
