New Delhi, October 5 (TNA) Airfares on IndiGo, India’s largest airline, are set to rise from Tuesday, October 6, as the carrier has announced a fresh fuel surcharge on domestic and international flights. The revised charges will apply to all new bookings made from 12:01 am on October 6, 2026.

The airline will levy an additional fuel surcharge of up to ₹1,300 on domestic flights and up to ₹10,000 on international routes, depending on the distance and destination. IndiGo said the decision was prompted by a sustained rise in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, with the latest month-on-month increase exceeding 14 per cent.

Domestic surcharge

The revised fuel surcharge on domestic flights will range from ₹375 to ₹1,300:
• Up to 500 km: ₹375
• 501–1,000 km: ₹600
• 1,001–1,500 km: ₹900
• 1,501–2,000 km: ₹1,150
• More than 2,000 km: ₹1,300

International surcharge

The surcharge on international flights will vary according to the destination:
• SAARC routes up to 500 km: ₹1,000
• SAARC routes above 500 km: ₹3,000
• Southeast Asia, the Middle East and GCC, and North and East Asia: ₹5,500
• Africa: ₹6,000
• Europe: ₹10,000

Third hike in six months

This is IndiGo’s third fuel surcharge revision in six months. The airline had earlier increased fares on March 14 and again on April 1 amid a sharp rise in fuel costs. The previous revisions had imposed distance- and route-based surcharges on both domestic and international tickets.

The latest increase is expected to raise the total cost of air travel for passengers booking IndiGo flights from Tuesday, particularly on long-distance domestic routes and international sectors to Europe.
