Hyderabad, August 26 (TNA) Passengers arriving at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport will have to pay a user development fee (UDF) from September 1, marking the first time the airport is charging arriving travellers as part of a revised tariff structure.
The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has changed the way infrastructure costs are recovered by splitting the fee between arriving and departing passengers.
Under the new order, domestic arriving passengers will pay Rs 220, while international arriving passengers will pay Rs 440. For departing passengers, the UDF has been reduced to Rs 515 for domestic travellers and Rs 1,030 for international travellers, compared with the existing Rs 750 and Rs 1,500 respectively.
AERA said the revised charges will apply to tickets issued on or after September 1, 2026, and will remain in force under the new tariff period. The regulator’s move is expected to make flying out of Hyderabad cheaper, even as arriving passengers are charged for the first time.
The revised structure reflects the airport’s use of shared terminal infrastructure such as aerobridges, travelators and conveyor belts, which AERA says are used by both embarking and disembarking passengers. The order is part of AERA’s broader tariff framework for the airport’s fourth control period.
