Chennai, October 21 (TNA) V Harish, a 27-year-old financial content creator who ran the popular social media brand Finance With Harish, was found dead at a rented villa near Muttukadu on Tuesday. Police are investigating the case as a suspected suicide.
Harish had more than 1.3 million followers across Instagram and YouTube, where he posted videos about finance and investments. His death has triggered allegations of online harassment linked to a dispute over his investment-advisory credentials.
Harish’s father, J Vinayagam, alleged in a complaint that his son had been subjected to sustained cyberbullying and pressure by another YouTuber, identified as Jason Samuel. The complaint also alleged that Samuel had threatened Harish and that complaints against him contributed to the blocking of his social-media accounts.
Police said no suicide note had been recovered. The Kanathur police have registered a case of unnatural death and are examining the allegations, digital evidence and statements from the family and other people connected with the dispute.
In a video believed to be Harish’s last, he reportedly claimed that his work had been taken down and that he was facing harassment and demands for money. The authenticity and context of the video are being examined as part of the investigation.
Samuel has denied the allegations and expressed condolences over Harish’s death. Police are expected to question him and review social-media posts, videos, messages and account activity to determine whether any criminal offences were committed.
The case has renewed concerns over online harassment, public accusations and the mental-health pressures faced by social-media creators. Authorities have not yet announced any conclusion regarding the circumstances that led to Harish’s death.
