New Delhi, September 25 (TNA) A man was stabbed to death, and two others were injured after unidentified assailants allegedly stopped an e-rickshaw and attacked its passengers during what police suspect was a robbery attempt in north Delhi’s Kashmere Gate area on Thursday evening.
The incident took place around 7.30 pm near Yamuna Bazaar, close to the Marghat Wale Baba flyover, when a group of miscreants intercepted the e-rickshaw and tried to rob the passengers, according to police and media reports. When the victims resisted, the attackers allegedly pulled out knives and stabbed them before fleeing the scene.
Police said three injured passengers were rushed to hospital, where one of them later died during treatment. The deceased has been identified as Prabhat, a resident of Haiderpuri in the Khari Baoli area, while the two injured victims are undergoing treatment and are not yet in a condition to give statements, reports said.
Investigators are scanning CCTV footage and questioning witnesses to establish the exact sequence of events and identify the attackers. Police have not yet confirmed whether the motive was robbery alone or whether there was any prior dispute.
