Hyderabad, November 3 (TNA) Actors Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and raised concerns over the growing misuse of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology in the entertainment industry.

The actors reportedly highlighted how digitally altered videos using artists’ faces, voices, and identities can damage their dignity, privacy, reputation and creative rights. They sought stronger safeguards and strict action against those who create and circulate objectionable or misleading deepfake content.

Written Representation Sought

Chiranjeevi said Amit Shah listened to their concerns and responded positively. The Home Minister advised the actors to submit a detailed written representation outlining the issues faced by artists and the measures they want the government to consider. Shah also entrusted Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy with coordinating further action on the matter, according to reports.

Industry-Wide Concern

The meeting came after Chiranjeevi had publicly expressed concern over morphed and degrading videos targeting actors and other artists. The actors said the problem extended beyond individual celebrities and posed a wider threat to the film fraternity.

They called for robust safety standards, faster action against offenders and legal provisions to protect performers’ likenesses, voices and other personality rights. The government’s next steps are expected to be discussed after it receives the written representation.
