New York, September 1 (TNA) Tennis great Roger Federer made a special return to the US Open on Monday night, where he was presented with his International Tennis Hall of Fame ring at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The ceremony came two days after Federer’s formal induction into the Hall of Fame in Newport.

Kim Clijsters, the International Tennis Hall of Fame president and a 2017 inductee, handed over the ring during the ceremony. Federer slipped it on, raised his hand to the crowd and acknowledged the applause from the packed stadium.

Federer, one of the most decorated players in tennis history, was inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside broadcaster and former player Mary Carillo. The honour adds to his legacy, which includes 20 Grand Slam singles titles and a long reign at the top of the world rankings.

The ring presentation provided a fitting celebration for the Swiss legend at one of the sport’s biggest stages, with fans giving him a warm reception as he marked another landmark in his career.
