New Delhi, September 13 (TNA) Elena Rybakina has won her first U.S. Open title, defeating defending champion Aryna Sabalenka in the final in New York to claim her second Grand Slam title of 2026 and become the new world No. 1.
Rybakina broke early in the deciding set and sealed the title with her 12th ace after 2 hours and 21 minutes, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. The Kazakh had also defeated Sabalenka in the Australian Open final in January, giving her both Grand Slam final victories over Sabalenka in 2026. Sabalenka still leads their overall rivalry 10-8.
Meanwhile, American star Ben Shelton will face Germany’s No. 1 seed Alexander Zverev in the men’s singles final on September 13.
