Wormsley, September 15 (TNA) England’s Under-19 team defeated Pakistan U19 by two runs in a thrilling third one-day international on September 14, keeping the four-match series alive. England posted 302 for six in 50 overs, while Pakistan finished on 300 for nine.
The match produced 602 runs in total and went down to the final overs. Pakistan, chasing 303, fell just short despite strong half-centuries from Hamza Zahoor and Hasnain Abbas Dar. England’s bowlers held their nerve during the closing stages to secure a narrow victory.
Pakistan had won the first two matches of the series, including the second ODI by 122 runs, and were leading 2-0 before Monday’s game. That made victory essential for England, who needed to win to avoid surrendering the series with one match remaining.
England’s win has reduced Pakistan’s lead to 2-1. England can no longer win the series, but a victory in the fourth and final ODI would allow them to finish the contest level at 2-2.
