New Delhi, October 21 (TNA) Delhi Capitals have appointed former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra as their spin-bowling coach ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season. The franchise announced the appointment on Wednesday, welcoming Mishra back to the team in a new role. He will work with Delhi’s spin-bowling group and help mentor the franchise’s younger players.

Mishra returns to the franchise where he began his IPL career and became its leading wicket-taker. He played 162 IPL matches and claimed 174 wickets, and is the only bowler in the tournament’s history to take three hat-tricks.

Revamped coaching team

Mishra’s appointment is part of Delhi Capitals’ revamped coaching structure for the 2027 season. Sourav Ganguly is set to lead the coaching setup, with Yuvraj Singh serving as assistant and batting coach, while Mishra takes charge of spin bowling. The former leg-spinner retired from all formats of cricket in September 2025 and is now beginning his first coaching assignment in the IPL.

Delhi Capitals said Mishra’s experience at the highest level would strengthen the team’s preparation and help develop its spin options ahead of the new season. His responsibilities are expected to include technical guidance, match preparation and mentoring during the tournament.

The appointment has been welcomed by former teammates and supporters, who see it as a return to the franchise in which Mishra built much of his IPL reputation. Delhi Capitals will now begin preparations for the 2027 season with a coaching group combining former India stars and experienced IPL personnel.
