Hyderabad, August 22 (TNA) Two workers were killed and nine others injured after a chemical reactor exploded at a pharmaceutical unit in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district late Friday night, triggering a fire inside the plant, police said.

The blast occurred at a company in Bhoodan Pochampally mandal during a shift change, when workers were handing over duties. According to police, the explosion was powerful enough to spark a blaze in part of the unit, forcing fire tenders to rush to the scene and bring the flames under control.

The injured workers were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, and two of them are said to be in a critical condition with burns covering more than 50 per cent of their bodies. Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the cause of the blast, while safety aspects at the unit are also expected to come under scrutiny.

Officials are now trying to determine whether the explosion was caused by a technical fault, chemical reaction, or operational lapse during the shift transition. The deceased have been identified in some reports as Rajashekar and Nagaraju, while the exact status of the injured continues to be monitored at hospitals in the region.
