Lucknow, October 21 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced three major increases in allowances for police personnel, including a substantial hike in the uniform allowance for Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers.
Under the revised structure, the annual uniform allowance for PPS officers will rise from ₹6,400 to ₹15,000-an increase of ₹8,600. The decision was announced during Police Commemoration Day events in Lucknow.
The motorcycle allowance for inspectors and sub-inspectors posted in field duties has also been increased from ₹700 to ₹1,000 per month. The government said the revision was intended to provide additional support to personnel who use motorcycles for official field work.
In another major decision, the mobile-SIM allowance for constables and head constables has been raised from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 per month. The allowance is intended to support communication expenses incurred during duty.

The decision comes amid continuing discussions over police welfare, working conditions, equipment and allowances. Officials are expected to issue detailed administrative orders specifying when the revised rates will take effect and how they will be implemented.
The government has also been considering changes to the uniforms of Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel and other welfare measures, although any such proposals would require separate formal approval.
