Lucknow, September 23 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has signed an MoU with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited to provide Bharat Taxi services for Lucknow Metro passengers, strengthening first- and last-mile connectivity across the city. The initiative will enable passengers to book taxis from their home or office to Metro stations and from Metro stations to their final destination, making the overall Metro journey more convenient.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the Bharat Taxi service in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. The MoU between UPMRC and Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, which operates the mobility platform under the brand name Bharat Taxi, was signed on the occasion.
A key feature of the service is that surge pricing will not be applicable during periods of high demand, offering passengers greater fare predictability while booking taxis.

The initiative will make it easier for passengers to access Metro stations and continue their journey to their final destinations. Bharat Taxi can be used for either the first or last leg of the journey, providing passengers with an additional mobility option beyond the Metro network.
The initiative also supports integrated urban mobility by bringing Metro and taxi services together. Improved connectivity to and from Metro stations can encourage greater use of public transport and reduce dependence on private vehicles.
UPMRC has already undertaken several initiatives to strengthen last-mile connectivity for Metro passengers through services and initiatives involving Rapido, Uber, My Didi and Anjaneya. With Bharat Taxi, passengers will now have another convenient option for travelling to and from Metro stations.
Speaking on the occasion, Sushil Kumar, Managing Director, UPMRC, said, “Lucknow Metro has been consistently working to strengthen first and last mile connectivity for its passengers.
