Sitapur, October 27 (TNA) Three men died after the car in which they were travelling plunged into a pond near Panchpir village in the Kamalapur police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district late on Monday night.

According to police, local residents returning home from work noticed something floating in the pond. When they turned their torches towards it, they saw the roof of a car above the water and alerted the authorities.

Car Retrieved by Crane

A police team, along with rescue personnel, reached the spot and launched an operation to recover the vehicle. The car was eventually pulled out of the pond with the help of a crane. Three bodies were found inside the vehicle.

Two victims were seated in the front, while the third was found in the rear seat. The deceased were identified as Rakesh Chaurasia, 50, Satish Nirmal, 40, and Ramendra Singh, 62.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and police have begun an investigation into the circumstances that led to the accident.

Were Returning From Bahraich

Family members said Rakesh Chaurasia’s son had been injured in a road accident in Bahraich. Rakesh had travelled there with his two friends to see him and bring him home, according to reports. The three men had spoken to their families for the last time while returning from Bahraich. They were later reported missing, prompting a search for them and their vehicle.

Police are examining whether the car lost control near the pond and fell into the water. Officials said the exact cause of the accident would be established after the investigation and post-mortem reports.
