Lucknow, August 26 (TNA) A fresh spell of heavy rain has lashed Lucknow and surrounding areas on Wednesday evening, bringing traffic to a crawl in several localities and causing waterlogging on key stretches of the city. The city has been under an orange alert for heavy rainfall, with weather services warning of intermittent rain, cloudy skies and thunderstorms through the day.

According to live weather updates, Lucknow is currently experiencing thick cloud cover with heavy downpour, and the likelihood of precipitation remains high. Forecasts show around a 75 per cent chance of rain, with thunderstorm chances also present, while cloud cover is near complete over the city.

The latest downpour has added to the monsoon disruption already seen in recent days, when short but intense spells dumped more than 50 mm of rain in parts of Lucknow such as Chinhat and Sitapur Road. Even when the main observatory does not record heavy rainfall, several parts of the city continue to report moderate to heavy showers, especially in the northern and eastern zones.

Waterlogging remains a recurring problem after such bursts of rain, with roads and residential areas in low-lying pockets vulnerable to flooding. Weather trackers say the city’s rain pattern this monsoon is highly concentrated, meaning some areas can receive heavy rain while others remain comparatively dry.
