Lucknow, September 29 (TNA) The King George’s Medical University (KGMU) administration has issued a letter to the parents and guardians of nursing students participating in the ongoing sit-in protest, urging them to keep their wards away from the demonstration.
The administration warned that students who remain absent from teaching and training activities could face disciplinary action. It said staying away from academic and clinical training without permission would be treated as a violation of institutional discipline.
The university also cautioned that prolonged absence from classes, practical sessions and clinical duties could directly affect the students’ attendance records and academic eligibility.
The move comes after KGMU nursing students resumed their indefinite protest on Monday. The students are demanding action in connection with the death of a second-year BSc Nursing student and have sought the resignation of the nursing college’s dean and principal.
The students had earlier suspended their protest after discussions with the Vice-Chancellor and an assurance that their demands would be considered. They resumed the agitation after alleging that no satisfactory decision was taken within the promised timeframe.
The protesters have also raised concerns over academic schedules, duty requirements, medical leave and hostel facilities. The KGMU administration has appealed to the students to withdraw the protest and return to their academic and training programmes.
