Shahjahanpur, November 3 (TNA) A woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband following a domestic dispute in Trilokpuri village under the Nigohi police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Reshma. According to police and family members, she had returned to her marital home from her parents’ house earlier in the day. A dispute reportedly broke out between her and her husband, Shivam, after which he allegedly fired at her with an illegal firearm.
Accused Taken into Custody
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the shooting and took Shivam into custody. The firearm allegedly used in the crime was also recovered, officials said. Reshma reportedly died at the scene. Her body was sent for a post-mortem examination, while forensic personnel collected evidence from the house.
Investigation Underway
Police said the couple had been facing domestic disagreements for some time. Officers are questioning the accused to establish the exact motive and determine the source of the weapon. Senior police officials visited the village and directed investigators to complete the inquiry promptly. Further legal action will follow based on the evidence and the post-mortem report.
