Rampur, October 5 (TNA) A woman was allegedly killed by her husband during a domestic dispute in the Mazra Sitarampur area under Swar Kotwali on Sunday night, police said. The accused reportedly struck her on the head several times with a grinding stone, causing fatal injuries.

After the alleged murder, the man is said to have locked his wife’s body and their two children inside a room before fleeing the house. The children reportedly remained trapped in the room in a state of panic.

The incident came to light when the couple’s five-year-old son reportedly alerted nearby residents through a window. Villagers informed the police, following which a team reached the spot, opened the room and rescued the children.

The deceased was identified in media reports as Reena Saini. Her two children, a five-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter, were present in the room when the police arrived. Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Forensic teams also inspected the crime scene, while officials began collecting evidence and recording statements.

The accused, identified in reports as Dharmendra, has been absconding since the incident. Police teams are conducting raids at possible hideouts to arrest him. Investigators are examining the alleged domestic dispute and other possible motives behind the killing. Police said further details would emerge after the post-mortem report and completion of the investigation.
