Lucknow, September 9 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday marked a major industrial milestone as Crown Packaging India Pvt. Ltd. broke ground for its greenfield aluminium beverage can manufacturing facility at the Integrated Manufacturing & Logistics Cluster (IMLC), Unnao. The project entails an investment of ₹2,078.44 crore and marks Crown Holdings’ first manufacturing facility in India.
Spread across nearly 40 acres at Plot No. 4 of IMLC, the facility will manufacture aluminium beverage cans for India’s growing beverage industry. The project is expected to create over 200 direct jobs and more than 1,500 indirect employment opportunities across logistics, warehousing, transportation, maintenance, supplier networks and ancillary industries.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, Minister for Industrial Development, said, “We are not only registering factories at a rapid pace, but also grounding them to provide jobs for the youth of the state. The Crown facility at Unnao is one such example.”
He added that the project reflects international companies' growing confidence in Uttar Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem. “We are on the right track to achieve the one trillion-dollar economy vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,” he said, noting that both national and international companies are benefiting from the state’s 36-plus sectoral policies and incentives.
₹2,078-Crore Investment Marks Crown’s Entry into Indian Manufacturing
Crown Packaging India Pvt. Ltd., incorporated in March 2026, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Crown Holdings and has its registered office in Lucknow. The project has been evaluated under Uttar Pradesh’s FDI, Fortune Global 500 & Fortune India 500 Companies Investment Promotion Policy 2023.
The plant will have an initial installed capacity of 116.2 crore cans annually, rising to 178.6 crore cans. Production is projected to increase from 67 crore cans in the first year to around 170 crore cans annually by Years 9 and 10.
Senior officials, including Deepak Kumar, Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC), Alok Kumar, ACS, Infrastructure & Industrial Development, Manoj Kumar Singh, CEO, State Transformation Commission, and Shashank Chaudhry, ACEO, Invest UP, attended the ceremony. Crown Holdings was represented by Djalma Novaes Jr., EVP & COO, and Mark Ketcheson, President, Crown Bevcan EMEA.
