Lucknow, August 24 (TNA) To facilitate foreign investment in Uttar Pradesh and make engagement with global businesses more inclusive, the state’s investment promotion agency, Invest UP, partnered with the Government of India’s AI-powered multilingual platform BHASHINI. The collaboration was successfully deployed at the UP–Japan Investment Meet 2026, where real-time AI translation helped bridge the language gap between Indian and Japanese delegates.

REAL-TIME AI SPEECH-TO-TEXT CONNECTS INDIAN AND JAPANESE STAKEHOLDERS

During the meet, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the gathering in Hindi, with his speech translated and transcribed into Japanese in real time through Shrutlekh, powered by Bhasini. Similarly, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s English address was translated into Japanese in real time, enabling Japanese participants to follow the proceedings as they unfolded.

The platform also facilitated two-way communication across Hindi, English and Japanese, allowing representatives from both countries to engage more effectively in their respective languages. At the centre of this process was Shrutlekh, which provided real-time speech-to-text capabilities and supported the multilingual communication workflow.

The deployment demonstrated how Language AI can strengthen international engagement by making high-level discussions more accessible to governments, businesses and institutions without relying solely on conventional interpretation.

BHASINI EXPANDS AI’S ROLE IN GLOBAL INVESTMENT COMMUNICATION

The deployment showed how multilingual AI can go beyond conventional translation to support international investment and business engagement. At the UP–Japan Investment Meet, Bhasini helped overcome language barriers during discussions on key sectors including manufacturing, clean energy, semiconductors, innovation, skill development and tourism.

Operated by the Digital India Bhasini Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Bhasini is India’s national platform for AI-powered multilingual communication and digital inclusion.

The platform currently powers more than 800 government websites, processes over 24 million AI inferences every day and has recorded more than 9 billion cumulative AI inferences. It supports 36 Indian text languages, 23 Indian voice languages and 35 international languages, expanding the role of Language AI in digital services and global investment engagement.

Invest UP appreciated Bhasini’s technological support in making the India–Japan investment dialogue more connected and inclusive, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s efforts to create a business environment where language does not become a barrier to investment, collaboration and new opportunities.
