NEW DELHI || Facing flak from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over his absence from the Parliamentary Committee on Environment meeting held last week, Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi on Monday hit back at the Delhi government over-targeting him. The former cricketer sought to know what had the ruling party in Delhi and it’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal done to take on the menace of air pollution.
Slamming the AAP leaders for targeting him without any reason, the BJP leader said he was in Indore and could not attend the parliamentary committee meeting as he was bound by a commentary contract. “I had signed the contract in January and took the political leap in April and it was necessary that I fulfil my pre-politics commitments,” the ace cricketer said.
He also claimed that not only he did know the seriousness of the pollution problem but was also doing his bit too sensitive people on the issue and also try and find solutions.
“I am a father and a responsible citizen and I know my responsibilities” he quipped while also accusing the AAP of trying to bring him bad name as he had defeated the AAP candidate in the Lok Sabha elections a few months back. He also took a potshot at AAP leader Sanjay Singh for sharing his picture eating jalebis in Indore. “If by not eating Jalebi’s, pollution can be tackled I vow not to eat them during my lifetime,” he chuckled.
