LUCKNOW || With four new cases of Corona virus in Lucknow, the threat of the dreaded COVID-19 scaled up in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. Officials said that now nine patients with the dreaded virus were being treated at the King George’s Medical University (KGMU). The Uttar Pradesh government has urged people not to venture out in public places unless necessary.
The government has also sought support from people to ensure that there are no large gatherings, be it personal or public. Political parties have decided to cancel major political drives, events and engagements.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has kept the celebrations of the completion of three years in power in UP low key and had cancelled programmes that were to be held in various district offices.
An official of the health department has that of the nine patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state capital, eight are from Lucknow alone and one from Lakhimpur Kheri. The patients include three persons from a single family who had returned from Europe recently. The four cases that were reported on Friday include two women aged 20 and 28 years and two males aged 37 and 35.
