NOIDA || Five senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh Homeguard department were arrested on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the muster roll scam in which they have been accused of taking money to put duties of the home guard personnel.
The arrested officials include Satish, Shailendra, Montu, Satveer and the then home guard commandant Raj Narayan Chaurasiya. Chaurasiya is currently posted at Aligarh. Angry after the scam was unearthed after a homeward brought the racket to the notice of the SSP, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had ordered a probe into the whole issue and stringent action against the guilty,
What had made the whole thing murkier was the fire at the Surajpur home guard office in which most muster rolls were gutted in a night fire. Senior police officials and the state government had taken note of the incident and the probe was expanded and expedited.
