Farmer Distress At Peak In UP, Alleges Congress’s Aradhana Misra

LUCKNOW || The Congress on Thursday attacked the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for the all-round chaos and accused it of being anti-farmer. Addressing a press conference in the state capital, leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in the state assembly, Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’ said that from the time the BJP came to power in the state, the farmers were in trouble.

The mentality of the BJP government viz a viz farmers is similar to that of the Britishers who during their rule victimised the farmers and exploited them” the leader further said.

Pointing out specifically the problem of cane growers in the state who were not being paid their dues, the Congress leader also said that for the last two years there has been no hike by the state government in the sugarcane prices.

Forget supporting, the BJP has burdened the already wrecked farmers with increased prices of power, diesel-petrol, pesticides, Misra said while adding that farmers were going through one of the worst times of their lives. She also said that the Congress stood with the distressed farmers and that demanded that the price of sugarcane be raised to Rs 450 per quintal.
