KANPUR || Dreaded gangster Vikas Dubey, named as the prime accused in the killing of eight personnel of Uttar Pradesh Police was killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) on Friday, a week after his house in Kanpur was raided, elating the cops dead.
According to sketchy information available, the mastermind of the heinous crime who was arrested from the Mahakal temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, tried to run away after snatching a weapon of the UP police team escorting him, some 25 km from Kanpur toll plaza and was thereafter shot by the cops.
He was rushed to the Hallet hospital in Kanpur where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Its as also informed that the STF vehicle bringing the gangster met with an accident and it overturned. Vikas Dubey allegedly tried to escape and was shot.
Eyewitness accounts, however, have been quoted by some media outlets saying that they did not see or hear the noise of any accident but all they heard was gunshots. We were shooed away by the policemen hence we don’t know much after that, an eyewitness told reporters. Sources in the police said that the vehicle he was coming in slipped and overturned at high speed and due to rains and met with an accident.
As the car turtled he tried to flee but was shot as he tried to snatch away a gun of a policeman. Experts, however, see too many loopholes in the police theory and believe that the criminal was shot dead in “cold blood“, though deservingly.
