Criminal Holds 15 Kids Hostage In UP Village, Opens Fire On Police

FARUKKHABAD || In a shocking late evening incident a dreaded criminal held hostage more than a dozen children at a house in Uttar Pradesh’s Farukkhabad district, police said. A few women are also held hostage by the criminal who has been identified as Subhash Batham

He is holding the children hostage and as police teams closed in, he opened fire on them and intermittently firing is underway at the time of writing this news report. Two policemen have been injured in the incident. A villager has also taken a gunshot wound.

The criminal also lobbed a hand grenade on the police. Worried at the hostage situation, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath has called an emergency meeting of the senior home department and police officials, an official informed. The criminal was lodged in jail for murder and had recently come out, an official said.

ATS team has been rushed to the crime scene and the state government is contemplating requisitioning NSG commandoes to set free the hostages. According to sketchy information, the criminal has locked the children in the basement and has threatened that if police inches close to the house he will blow up the house.
