COVID-19 : Activist Seeks Probe On Reopening Of Lucknow Hospital

LUCKNOW || Social activist Nutan Thakur on Saturday filed a complaint with the state’s health minister JP Singh, on the reopening of the Chandan hospital at Chinhat, against COVID-19 protocol set in force by the union government.

In a letter to the health minister, Thakur has claimed that after the private hospital in the state capital was shut down due to a COVID-19 patient being diagnosed, it has opened before the mandatory period of quarantine and lockdown.

The hospital was locked down on April 24, 2020, for fourteen days but reopened on May 6, she has alleged in her complaint. This, she pointed out was two days before the mandatory 14-day lockdown period. She went on to allege that medical superintendent of the Chandan hospital had been given a clean chit by the Lucknow CMO, in contravention of the laid down guidelines in such cases.

She further stated that this had made tongue wagging about why and how did this thing happen. Thakur has asked the minister to come clean on the issue and order a probe hence. The hospital management was not available for comment.
