LUCKNOW || In a significant development in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress on Wednesday moved to get its Rae Bareilly Sadar legislator Aditi Singh disqualified from the state assembly.
Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Aradhna Mishra moved an application on behalf of her party at the Vidhan Sabha speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit’s office, seeking her disqualification.
Singh, who recently got married to a Congress legislator in Punjab has been charged with “defying the party whip of boycotting the special session of state Assembly convened on October 2″, which had been organized by the BJP-led state government in Uttar Pradesh.
At the time of attending the session, Aditi Singh has clearly said that she was doing so as a mark of respect for the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Her appearance at the special assembly session then had triggered speculation that she was apparently inching closer to the BJP.
