LUCKNOW || Congress legislator Deepak Singh on Wednesday led a team of party workers in distributing essential items and help to a slum dwelling in the state capital. Distributing the goods, the lawmaker said that this was being done on the directions of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has gone all out to help those in distress during the Coronavirus lockdown.
He also slammed the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state, accusing it of pursuing vendetta politics as reflected in the arrest of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Ajay Kumar Lallu.
“It is unfortunate that the government is not coming to the rescue of the migrant labourers who have been forced to walk barefooted for hundreds of miles during the lockdown“, the Congress leader said further.
Before distributing the food and other essential items, Deepak Singh along with others wore mock handcuffs and said that the service to the people will not end by the mere threats of the UP government. If the government wants to, it can also send us to prison but we will not stop, Singh stated.
