Congress Knocks NHRC Doors Against UP Police Brutality During Anti-CAA Stir

LUCKNOW/NEW DELHI || A Congress delegation led by party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra petitioned the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Monday alleging that the Uttar Pradesh government had unleashed a reign of terror on activists, social workers, common people who were against the CAA and NRC.

The delegation which also comprised on senior party leaders like PL Punia, Salman Khursheed, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader in the Uttar Pradesh assembly, Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’, told NHRC officials that the treatment of the state government and the Uttar Pradesh Police was “barbaric and brutal“.

The Congress leaders, while seeking the intervention of the Human Rights panel, also charged that woman and children in the state were also ill-treated during the anti-CAA protests across the state.
