Complaint Alleges Corruption In UP’s Rs 354 Crore Rapti Canal Project

LUCKNOW || Uttar Pradesh based social activist Nutan Thakur has sent a complaint to Principal Secretary and Engineer-in Chief of Irrigation Department as regards what she says were “massive irregularities in Rs. 354 crore Rapti Main Canal project, Bahraich” which was being done with the complicity of departmental officials.

As per the complaint, Superintending Engineer, Ninth Circle, Irrigation department, Bahraich gave the project to Ms SEW Infrastructure, Hyderabad. Ms SEW further sublet the work on its own without permission from the competent authority to Ms Godavari Builcom Nasik, Ms Adinath Infrastructure Mumbai and Ms A P Engineering Delhi on completely arbitrary rates, which is prima-facie illegal.

The complaint says that Chief Engineer, Sarayu project Ayodhya and officers at Bahraich are fully aware of these irregularities but are not undertaking any action against Ms SEW, while fully supporting it in this illegal act.

Hence Nutan has requested for cancellation of the project given to Ms SEW, forfeiture of its deposit money and stringent action against departmental officers supporting this illegal act.
