LUCKNOW || The intense cold wave notwithstanding, people across the state of Uttar Pradesh rung in the new year 2020 in style and gay abandon on Tuesday. While it turned very cold and foggy on Tuesday night, the last day of the outgoing year 2019, people took to the streets and celebrated the coming of the new year.
Large crowds were seen at the bust thoroughfares like Hazratganj, Mithaiwala Chowraha in Gomtinagar, the 1090 roundabout in Gomtinagar and Bhootnath market in Indiranagar as party revellers came out on the streets, danced to very loud music and honked the horns of their vehicles to announce the arrival of the new year.
New Year parties had also been organised by many hotels in the state capital where people cutting across age groups let their hair down and greeted each other as the new year set in. Senior Superintendent of Police, Kalanidhi Naithani also participated in the festivities and cut a cake with his subordinates at the 1090 square.
He also appreciated the police for the good work and urged them to work even harder for safety and well being of the people. Many city temples also witnessed large crowds as people thronged them to pay their respects and express gratitude to God for the year gone by and to seek blessings for the coming year.
