LUCKNOW || The cold wave in Uttar Pradesh further intensified on Wednesday as the sun refused to show up and icy winds continued to blow in most parts of the state. It has been three consecutive days now that there has been virtually no sun in Lucknow, Barabanki, Kanpur, Unnao, Hardoi and many parts of eastern and central Uttar Pradesh.
The harsh winters continue unabated in western UP as well. The visibility is poor on the highways as the fog has descended. Trains have been hit and there are reports of some delays in flights in and out of Lucknow as well. The schools in Lucknow and some other districts opened to new timings on Wednesday.
The district administration has ordered that schools open up at 10 am and shut by 3 pm. This diktat is for all pre-nursery to class VIIIth in government and private schools. There were several traffic snarl ups in the state capital due to slow pace of vehicular movement. The weatherman predicts no respite from the intense cold wave in the next week.
The Regional met Office however said that the sun would show up off and on but there would be no relief from the gutsy cold winds. The temperature in Lucknow around noon was 13 degrees celsius on Wednesday, with 76% humidity. Winds were blowing at 5kmph.
