LUCKNOW || Former Indian cricketer and Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Chetan Chauhan has tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus, an official said on Saturday. His samples were taken after he developed minor symptoms like dry cough and fever.
Chauhan is the BJP legislator from Naunganwa assembly constituency of Amroha and holds the Homeguards department charge in the Yogi Adityanath government. He was earlier the youth affairs and sports minister in the state’s BJP government.
The suave and polished politician is the third minister in the state to have tested COVID positive. The other ones being the state’s Ayush minister Dharam Singh Saini and cabinet minister Rajendra Pratap Singh aka Moti Singh.
Since these people are public figures, the administration has gone into a tailspin, as they may have met hundreds of people in the past few days.
Uttar Pradesh, encoded for its strict adherence to the lockdown norms, is of late fast emerging as the hub of the dreaded virus that emanated from Wuhan province in China early this year and has since killed lakhs across the globe. UP so far has 11024 active cases of Coronavirus and on Friday alone 1347 record cases came to light of which 27 died.
