LUCKNOW || At least 16 persons have been killed and 35 injured in Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh where a sleeper bus rammed into the rear of a truck on the Agra-Lucknow Express Way, police said on Thursday. The mishap took place near Bhadav village late on Wednesday. The ill-fated vehicle was headed to Bihar from New Delhi.
The injured have been rushed to the Saifai PGI. There were 90 passengers on board the bus when the tragedy struck.
On hearing the loud sound of the collision and the subsequent cries of the passengers, locals, passers by and villagers rushed to the accident scene and helped the injured. Police later rushed and oversaw the relief and rescue operations.
ADG Ajay Anand and IG, A Satish Ganesh camped at the accident scene all through the night. The police officials told the media that the front part of the bus had been severely damaged. The dead were yet to be identified at the time of writing the report.
