MUMBAI || Faced with an unprecedented crisis due to rising cases of the Coronavirus, the Maharashtra government has now decided to “open up testing to any individual in the city without prescription/self-attestation“. A decision to this effect as taken by senior officials of the BMC after a go-ahead from chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s office.
Informing of this major decision, Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray tweeted: The @mybmc has decided to open up testing to any individual in the city without prescription/self-attestation.
Labs can now conduct RT PCR tests as per ICMR guidelines at the will of anyone. This will help citizens feel safer and test when they have a doubt, without any delays.
The decision was immediately hailed by the netizens who thought this was the right decision in the right direction to break the chain of the COVID infections. Bollywood star Anil Kapoor retweeted the information and appreciated the step.
“A great step by @mybmc,” the veteran actor said while adding that “increase in testing was surely needed. Making sure the right information is being given to the people and they are made aware of every move being taken for their safety at the right time has been handled very well so far and is commendable!”
Mumbai is one of the worst-hit Indian cities, facing growing cases of the dreaded virus.
