AMETHI || Son of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was killed in Amethi, the parliamentary constituency of union textiles minister Smriti Zubin Irani on Wednesday, police said. The crime was committed merely a kilometre away from the SP’s office in Gauriganj. Angry at the incident, locals vented their anger against the police and blocked the road for a while.
The incident took place in Bishundaspur on the Musafirkhana road. Police informed that two local youth Chandrashekhar and Arpit were engaged in a long-simmering feud over some issue.
The two were fighting on the road when local BJP leader Shiv Nayak Singh and his businessman son Sonu Singh intervened and tried to pacify both the youngsters.
An enraged Chandrashekhar Singh shipped out his pistol and opened fire at Sonu Singh after which he was critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he was pronounced dead by doctors. The body has been sent for autopsy and a probe has been ordered, ASP Dayaram Saroj informed media persons.
