LUCKNOW || Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Uma Bharti on Thursday appeared before a special CBI court in Lucknow in a trial related to the 1992 Babri mosque demolition. The special CBI court is currently recording the statements of 32 accused under CrPC section 313.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is the 19th accused in the case to appear and depose before the special CBI court. Sadhvi Ritambhara, also an accused had appeared before the court a few days back.
LK Advani, the former deputy prime minister, Kalyan Singh the former UP chief minister in whose tenure the Babri demolition took place and veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi are yet to appear before the court and are likely to use the video conferencing. 13 others including this leader trip remain to be examined.
Day-to-day hearings are being conducted by the CBI court as mandated by the Supreme Court, for completion of the trial by August 31.
