LUCKNOW || All schools in the state capital will remain closed for yet another day on Friday owing to heavy rains and cold weather, an official said on Thursday. Classes from pre-nursery to VIII with remain closed while that of class IXth and above will open between 10 am to 2:30 pm.
The district magistrate Abhishek Prakash had declared a holiday on Thursday following a heavy downpour and warnings by the Regional Met Office of heavy rains in the city in the next 48-hours.
Lucknow has been facing heavy downpour since Wednesday evening, resulting in a drastic drop of mercury. Cold icy winds have further compounded the problems. The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath meanwhile has directed officials in all districts facing rains to ensure that the homeless and destitute are not left to the vagaries of nature and are well attended to.
Funds have also been sanctioned for bonfires and public places and warm clothing’s at the night shelters where several hundred across the state have taken shelter to fight the intense cold wave this time.
