LUCKNOW || National general secretary of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arun Singh on Monday filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha by-polls in Lucknow. Accompanied by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, deputy chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dinesh Chandra Sharma and a battery of top state leaders, Singh filed the nomination papers at the Central Hall of the Vidhan Sabha building.
Later talking to the media, Singh, who has been for long in the BJP and also has his roots in the RSS, said that he has always worked for the party to the best of his abilities and so far he was in the organization and now that the party has decided to send him to the upper House of the Parliament, he will discharge these duties also diligently.
He also extended his gratitude to the party that an ordinary worker like him has been given so much regard that first he was made the national general secretary and now he was being sent to the Rajya Sabha. His election is merely a formality as the BJP enjoys a brute majority in the state assembly and Singh is likely to sail through comfortably.
