LUCKNOW || Contrary to what was being speculated, Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Anoop Chandra Pandey was not given another extension and hence retired after a long career as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. RK Tiwari, the incumbent agriculture production commissioner has been given the charge of the chief secretary for now and it is believed that the state government would decide on the name of the state’s top bureaucrat within the next few days.
Pandey, a 1984 batch officer, many felt in the corridor of power would get the lucky second time and get another extension. He was given one because of the impending general elections earlier this year. Once the director information during the regime of Kalyan Singh, he had endeared himself too many state politicians. He is credited with the successful implementation of many programmes and schemes of the state and central government in Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath greeted the former chief secretary and said that his term might be coming to an end but he has a long way to go as far as serving the people of the state and society was concerned.
