LUCKNOW || All the records of the single-day tally of Coronavirus cases were shattered on Friday as Uttar Pradesh recorded its highest ever of 4453 cases, officials said. Another scary record was set in the state capital as Lucknow logged 562, also an all-time high, in the last 24-hours. Five deaths have also been reported in the state capital in one day, taking the total to 95.
Kanpur also continued to be precariously positioned with 321 fresh cases. There were six deaths taking the total tally of deaths in the city to 199.
Another city which seems to be a ticking bomb of COVID cases was Prayagraj with 231 new cases. There have however been no deaths in the past one day and the fatalities stand at 51.
Bareilly saw a sudden spike with 295 new cases in one day and Gorakhpur stood at 155. Ayodhya, where four days from now prime minister Narendra Modi will be laying the foundation stone of a grand Ram temple, 142 cases have been reported in the last 24-hours along with one death.
Deoria has reported 112 new cases, Shahjahanpur 89, Azamgarh 88, Mirzapur 177, Varanasi (97), Hardoi 45, Barabanki 71, Pilibhit 72, Mainpuri 9, Amroha 32, Gonda 42, Budayun 64 and 46 in Pratapgarh.
