LUCKNOW || Amidst a political storm over the Rs 2268-crore PF scam in the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL), former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday demanded a probe into the scam by a sit-in High Court or Supreme Court (SC) judge. Addressing the media in the state capital, the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief said that chief minister Yogi Adityanath was a “weak leader who was unable to even remove the minister involved in the scam“.
Daring the BJP government in the state to let the truth come out, the 45-year-old leader further said that during the SP regime not a single paisa of the employees PF was transferred to the DHFL. All this work, he added, had been done in the BJP rule and alleged that to wriggle out of his responsibilities and involvement, the power minister Srikant Sharma was trying to throw muck on others.
“The FIR has dates on which the PF funds were transferred to the DHFCL and it’s all clear from those that no money was transferred during the SP rule“, he further alleged. Yadav further said that it was due to the pressure exerted on the BJP government, that a CBI probe was recommended into the whole scam.
Akhilesh Yadav also said that more than 300 legislators of the ruling party were not in favour of Yogi Adityanath continuing as the chief minister of the state. He demanded that owing responsibility of the scam, Adityanath should step down as chief minister of UP.
